Personal Training for Children and Adults with SEND
At Inclusion Fitness, we recognise that many children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) face significant barriers when it comes to accessing exercise and physical activity.
Inclusive Fitness & Specialist Support
Supporting Health, Confidence and Wellbeing Through Exercise
We are passionate about breaking down those barriers and providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where individuals can enjoy movement, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
Exercise can provide valuable physical, emotional, and sensory benefits. Where appropriate, we can work alongside other professionals, including Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, schools, and support teams, to ensure a holistic approach that supports the individual's wider needs and outcomes.
Breaking Down Barriers
Through our experience of working with children and adults with SEND, we have found that most people want to participate in exercise and physical activity but often face three key challenges:
-
Many fitness professionals have limited experience or training in adapting exercise for individuals with SEND, making it difficult for families and individuals to find the right support.
-
Commercial gyms can often be overwhelming, highly stimulating, inaccessible, or simply not designed to meet the needs of individuals with additional needs or disabilities.
-
Many exercise programmes take a one-size-fits-all approach. We recognise that every individual is unique and requires a personalised approach that considers their strengths, interests, motivations, abilities, and support needs.
At Inclusion Fitness, we overcome all three of these barriers by providing specialist support within a private, calm, and fully equipped training environment, where every session is tailored to the individual.
A Truly Individual Approach
We understand that every individual is unique, which is why every training programme is tailored around the person's needs, goals, interests, and abilities.
Our sessions are client-led wherever possible, allowing us to build trust, engagement, and confidence whilst making exercise enjoyable and accessible.
One of the first things we discuss with parents, carers, or the individual themselves is their interests, passions, and motivators. We then use these to shape sessions that are engaging, meaningful, and fun.
For some individuals, this may mean incorporating games, challenges, or favourite activities into sessions. For others, it may involve adapting exercises, reducing demands, or creating predictable routines that help them feel comfortable and successful.
Rather than expecting individuals to fit into a traditional exercise programme, we adapt the programme to fit the individual.
How We Can Help
We support children and adults with a wide range of needs, including:
✔ Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
✔ ADHD
✔ Learning Disabilities
✔ Physical Disabilities
✔ Sensory Processing Differences
✔ Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)

Working alongside Families and Professionals
We understand that successful outcomes are often achieved when everyone works together. Where appropriate, we are happy to liaise with parents, carers, schools, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, support workers, and local authorities to ensure that exercise sessions complement wider support plans and individual goals.

Meet and Greet
We understand that stepping into a new environment for the first time can feel overwhelming. For some people, that first step through the door is often the biggest hurdle, which is why we offer a free 20-minute Meet & Greet before starting sessions.
This gives you, or your child, the opportunity to meet us, look around the gym, and discuss your goals, needs, and any concerns you may have. Children are welcome to explore the space and try some of the equipment whilst they are here, helping them become familiar with the environment before their first session.
For many people, particularly those who experience anxiety, having the opportunity to see what to expect beforehand can significantly reduce worries about starting something new and help them feel more confident and comfortable.
For children and young people with SEND, a Meet & Greet can be especially valuable. It provides an opportunity to become familiar with the gym, meet their trainer, and begin establishing a routine before sessions start. We know that predictability and familiarity can make a huge difference, and this initial visit often helps reduce anxiety, build trust, and create a positive first experience.
Our aim is simple – we want everyone to feel welcome, comfortable, and excited about starting their fitness journey with us.
There is no obligation to sign up following a Meet & Greet. It's simply an opportunity to see whether Inclusion Fitness is the right fit for you.
